I've been blown away by the response to the Hack 'N' Slash Hero character creation so far! Over fifty characters have been submitted, giving us an awesome selection to play with once the adventure begins. Thanks guys! I thought I'd do a quick post to clarify some things near the halfway stage, just to avoid any confusion.
Your characters can be from any genre/time period – the 'Warriors of the Eternal Quest' exist in a domain that transcends universes, so you can create anyone you want, from a plate-clad hedge knight to a ray-gun wielding alien!
When assigning stats, the limits are as follows: 0 is the bottom limit, 21 is the top limit i.e. you could create a character with all their points in one stat. I wouldn't advise this however, as the character couldn't get any more unbalanced! Remember: you must spend ALL 21 points.
When choosing the secondary equip and constitution for your character, the overall effect could be to give your character a negative score, i.e. you assign your character a SPD stat of 1, and by giving them a 'heavy long-range weapon' reduce their SPD score to -1. This is fine, but once again, not recommended. Negative scores are transferred onto your opponent's stats, becoming extra points for them.
When choosing a secondary equip, I neglected to include that you can opt out of this stage, leaving your stats unchanged from how you previously assigned them – I will adjust the character creation page accordingly to include 'no secondary equip'.
If you're struggling with how to create a character, or need some inspiration, here's a few examples of ones that players have submitted so far:
- @Feefers Loupy / Werewolf / confused but kind shapeshifter / ATK: 8 DEF: 8 SPD: 5 / Sharp twin claws / agile
- @BeefGriller Titanium Alpha-12 | Android | Heavy Infantry Automaton of The Steel Imperium | ATK: 10 DEF: 8 SPD: 3 | Heavy Fist Bash DH | Tough
- @EmmyOtter Rosie McCann | Half-elf | Charming ex-thief turned protector of the weak | ATK: 7 DEF: 6 SPD: 8 | DH Steel Daggers | Agile
The submissions so far have been brilliant – I can see we've got some vivid imaginations involved in the process. Keep up the creating, and let me know if you have any queries. Remember; character creation closes at 6pm GMT on Friday the 13th of April!
